Geeta Phogat is a well-known freestyle Indian wrestler. She is best known for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Geeta won the first-ever Gold medal in freestyle wrestling in the Commonwealth game by beating an Australian player Emily Bensted. Geeta Phogat was born in Balali, a village in Haryana. Geeta’s full name is Geeta Kumari Phogat. Her father’s name is Mahaveer Singh Phogat.
Geeta is not the first child in her family to pursue wrestling as a career. Both Geeta’s sister and brother are a wrestler. His sister Babita Phogat and cousin Vinesh Phogat are both gold medalists in their respective categories at the Commonwealth Games 2014. His father, Mahavir Singh Phogat is a former wrestler and Dronacharya Award winner. Mahavir Singh is also the coach of his daughters Geeta and Babita.
Geeta Phogat is married to Pawan Kumar on 20 November 2016. Pawan is also a wrestler. Geeta is not only the winner of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, but she has also won several other games. He has won gold medals at the 2012 Summer Olympics, bronze medals at the 2012 World Wrestling Championships, silver medals at the Commonwealth Wrestling Championships in 2013, bronze medals at the 2015 Asian Wrestling Championships, etc. Geeta gave birth to a son in December 2019. The name of the child is Arjun.
She has been seen in many television shows. Geeta Phogat has been invited as a guest on Bigg Boss (Season 11) and Star Plus popular show Nach Baliye. She has also been a contestant of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi (Season 8).
